Bear Claw Bit #510. Made of polished, blued steel. Overlayed with sterling silver. It has a 5 inch modified half-breed mouthpiece with 5 copper rings in place of a cricket. It is 2 1/2 inches from where the headstall hooks on to the center of the bar. It is 4 1/2 inches from the center of the bar to where the reins hook on. The ring that the headstall hooks on, the mouthpiece, and the lower part of the cheekpiece all hinge separately from one another. This allows the headstall to always lay flat against the horse's head. The lower parts of the cheekpieces are hobbled together by the slobber bar so that the pressure is always the right direction.
